midweek madness: auditions

We were running auditions on Wednesday afternoon when a boy said he’d prepared Ubi Caritas for his solo, “but not the one you guys did” [i.e. Gjeilo]. The first thing I blurted out was, “Umm, the chant one?”

It wasn’t–don’t know how I’d feel if it were–but he did sing the one he’d chosen quite well.
